New Haven, Connecticut
The New Haven Rugby is named after the place our family has called home since the turn of the century - the birthplace of Traditional Ivy Style and the Jewish tailoring that started it all.
Traditional Ivy Style has been well documented, honed and perfected since its peak in the 1950’s and 60’s, with epicenters around Ivy League campuses.
Back then the Jewish tailors who created this classic look were building a culture of which they were not included, with strict quotas imposed on Jewish admissions for Ivy League schools and clientele who treated them like outsiders.
Things have changed.
Today, it doesn’t matter where you started, who you had to work for, or how you got there. What matters is your attitude in that moment, how you present yourself, and who you bring along with you.
It’s with that spirit we introduce our rugby, a modern take on a classic sportswear staple. Made in New York City's Garment District, each piece is cut from Japanese cotton french terry, upgrading our rugby materials to feel like your favorite sweatshirt.
The collar is a soft, minimally lined cotton chambray that extends into the hidden button placket with rubber sport buttons made in the U.S.A.
We've designed the New Haven Rugby with raglan sleeves and flatlock stitching for a relaxed look around the shoulders and a fitted cut through the body.
The design details and focus on materials make this a one of a kind piece.
